  • What is a Chamber of Commerce and what do they do?

    The Chamber of Commerce is organized for the purpose of being a proactive advocate for the business and professional organizations of Middletown, Monroe and Trenton areas. The Chamber is dedicated to developing, nurturing and protecting a positive economic climate favorable to the business and professional communities. The Chamber will be a provider of cutting edge member services. The highest priority efforts or initiatives of the Chamber are Economic Development, Legislative and Government Affairs and Education.

    What are the dues? Are the dues tax deductible?

    Dues are based on the number of full-time employees in your company, with 3 exceptions: Financial Institutions,  Public Utilities/Publishers and Non-Profit & Not-for-Profit. Minimum Chamber dues are $315 base dues plus $6.50 per each full-time employee (three part-time employees equal one full-time). Chamber dues are deductible for federal income tax purposes as a business expense.

    Chamber dues for Financial Institutions:
    Banks $41 per million in dollars
    Credit Unions $22 per million in deposits
    Savings & Loans $22 per million in deposits
    (Minimum of $500 for financial institutions)

    Chamber dues for Public Utilities/Publishers
    $.11 per meter, trunk line, subscriber in The Chamber of Commerce

    Non-Profit & Not-for-Profit
    Flat rate $315 – Churches & Government Units
    Limited to one mailing representative. Additional mailings available at $6.50 per representative

    Retirees (Individual/Non-Business) $100.00

    How do I calculate my firm’s number of full-time equivalent employees?

    Chamber dues are based on the number of full-time equivalent employees in your company. If your company has full-time and part-time employees, use this formula to determine your number of full-time equivalent employees:

    Total hours paid per week / 40 hours = full-time equivalent employees

    What are the billing cycles?

    When a company joins the Chamber, they pay one full year’s dues, regardless of the date they join. All membership renewals are billed on a quarterly basis closest to your membership joining date.

    Yes! Volunteering for the Chamber is a great way to network with other members, contribute to the community and have fun all at the same time. There are numerous committees and events that need volunteer support.

    Sponsorship Opportunities - Another way to promote your business to Chamber members and the public. Sponsorships are available for all events and range depending on the event and amount of advertising exposure.

    Business Expo - Showcase your business to hundreds of decision makers at our annual exhibition.

    Membership Directory - Members have the opportunity to purchase advertising for additional exposure and receive a complimentary copy.

    Mailing List - Market your products and services through our Chamber mailing list. Additional labels can be purchased upon request.

    Leadership - A nine session course designed to assist an individual in strengthening their leadership skills. The emphasis on community orientation has been minimized and replaced with a focus on key leadership skills that are essential for business. The program has 2 phases, phase one focus on building and strengthening leadership skills and the second phase focuses on providing opportunities to lead.

    Volunteer Opportunities - Make a difference in your community and the Chamber by participating on one of our committees such as: Ambassador, Business Expo, Golf, Membership Development, Monthly Business Luncheon, Annual Meeting, Legislative and Public Affairs, etc. Committees help the Chamber to tackle issues, coordinate events, and communicate to our members.

    Referrals - Hundreds of requests are answered by the Chamber from businesses and individuals that inquire about local products and services. As a courtesy to our members, we only refer Chamber members.

    Cost Saving Features

    Group Workers Compensation - Through CareWorks Consultants, Inc chamber members are offered multiple savings levels, ranging from the BWC maximum to a lesser percentage, for companies with claims.

    Health Insurance - The Chamber endorses a health care plan for small businesses with 2 to 50 employees. There are several plan options to choose from with a large network of hospitals and physicians. As an added value, additional discounts on products and services are offered.

    Dental Insurance - Superior Dental Care offers reasonable monthly rates, no claim forms, no waiting periods, no pre-existing conditions, no balance billing and a network of over 2,000 dental offices in Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana.

    Prescription Drug Discount Card - Saves you an average of 18-25% on prescription drugs. A program designed for those that do not have health insurance or that do not have a prescription drug card. Cards are free to Chamber members and must be used at participating pharmacies.

    Vision Care Program - Offers savings of up to 40% on eyewear and other discounts. No minimum participation requirements and a low annual fee which includes dependents.

    Technology - Promote your business through a web link from our web site to yours, available to members free of charge.
